The Agricultural Paying Agency (PPA) has launched a call for storage capacity for special crops. Under this measure, the agro-resort of Slovak farmers from the Rural Development Program will support EUR 15 million.
“We want Slovak consumers to reach for Slovak vegetables and fruits as long as possible throughout the year. It is the support of the development and modernization of the warehouses of fruit and vegetable producers that will ensure a more stable supply of domestic, Slovak fruit and vegetables to our consumers throughout the year. We support the storage of crops of special crop production from domestic fields such as tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, garlic, root vegetables, asparagus, but also fruits like melons, strawberries, apples, or apricots and many others, ”said Gabriela Matečná, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.
Under the call for the construction, reconstruction and modernization of storage capacities, only investments related to the storage of crops of special plant production in the temperate zone, listed in the appendix to the call, are eligible. In addition to the above, for example, potatoes include cabbage, onion, carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, lettuce, celery, parsley, radish, sugar corn or pumpkin. The fruits include pears, plums, ringlets, peaches, cherries, cherries and currants. The construction of the warehouse may also include the construction of immediate external storage areas and possible solutions to the energy management immediately related to the operation of the warehouse.
“We have prepared the challenge so that our primary producers have enough time to prepare projects. Harvesting is an important part of the food supply chain. The challenge is to support farms by increasing production or quality in critical sectors, increasing sales, reducing environmental burdens, including technology, by building storage capacities. It can involve natural and legal persons engaged in primary agricultural production - producers of special crops. The indicative amount of funding in the call is EUR 15 million. It will be possible to submit and receive applications for a non-repayable financial contribution to the PPA from 1 to 17 October 2019, ”said Juraj Kožuch, CEO of PPA.
